    Finance Modernization Manager – Independent Consulting Engagement

     

    1. Location: Remote (preference for candidates near Chicago, New York, or Charlotte)
    2. Duration: September 29, 2025 – February 27, 2026 (5 months)
    3. Rate: $90–$110/hr C2C
    4. Travel: International (Europe and South America), reimbursable

     

    About the Engagement

    A leading national advisory and public accounting firm has been engaged by its client to drive a flagship Finance Modernization program and is seeking independent consultants to support delivery. This subcontracting role offers the opportunity to operate in a client-facing environment, deliver high-impact results, and partner with senior stakeholders on transformation work.

     

    Scope of Work

    1. Lead workshops and working sessions with client finance and accounting stakeholders
    2. Assess existing month-end close processes, identify bottlenecks, and deliver recommendations to achieve a 5-day close cycle.
    3. Guide a chart of accounts redesign and facilitate mapping between legacy and target structures.
    4. Review financial systems (ERP, reconciliation tools, reporting platforms) and identify opportunities for automation and optimization.
    5. Deliver an implementation roadmap, an executive summary of findings, and a future-state schematic of the close process.

     

    Team Structure

    1. Consultant will be scoped at a Manager level.l
    2. Work alongside a Program Manager and a Senior Associate on the engagement team.
    3. Expected to drive deliverables and maintain project momentum, though this is not a project management role

     

    Qualifications

    1. 6+ years of finance transformation, accounting advisory, or consulting experience
    2. Strong knowledge of month-end close processes, financial reporting, and chart of accounts design
    3. ERP exposure (SAP, Oracle, Workday preferred)
    4. Excellent facilitation and communication skills with executive presence
    5. CPA or MBA preferred
    6. Ability to travel internationally for workshops and client sessions
