    PAID INTERNSHIP FOR 2026 GRADUATES

    Role: Graduate student Intern

    1. Location: Colorado (remote)
    2. Rate: $24 w2 hourly
    3. Intern virtual orientation: April 21 – 27, 2025
    4. Internship duration: April 28, 2025 - October 26, 2025
    5. Total hours: between 15 - 30 hours a week


    Our client is launching an internship program focused on climate resilience. This program will place (graduation date in 2026) Colorado-based graduate student interns with local government agencies, equipping them to support vital climate resilience projects and creating a skilled workforce pipeline for the future of climate and resilience planning. Interns will work closely with their host organizations to support climate resilience projects related to e.g. climate adaptation, community engagement, conservation, public health, stormwater management, emergency preparedness, and other topics. Project tasks can include planning (e.g. creating a plan or strategy document), policy development, and program implementation.


    Applicants must be students currently enrolled in an accredited graduate school program in Colorado in a discipline such as public administration, geography, geographic information systems, policy, environmental science, psychology, sustainability, Urban & Regional Planning, Climate Science & Hazard Mitigation, Environmental Policy & Law (Policies, Ordinances, Regulations), Community Engagement & Public Participation, GIS & Spatial Analysis, Data Analysis, Research Methods, Survey Design & Statistics, Sustainable Infrastructure & Green Stormwater Solutions, Report Writing, Workshop Design, Volunteer Coordination, or similar strong educational background with an expected graduation date in 2026.


    Eligibility and Qualifications

    1. Applicants must be students currently enrolled in an accredited graduate school program in Colorado in a discipline such as public administration, geography, geographic information systems, policy, environmental science, sustainability, or similar with an expected graduation date in 2026.
    2. Must be based in Colorado for the majority of the internship period.
    3. Must pass a background check before beginning their internships.  
    4. Must commit to completing their internships.
    5. Must be able to work in a professional office or virtual work environment.
    6. Must be self-driven, resourceful, and able to work independently.


    Eligible projects that interns may support are not limited to the examples included in this list.


    1. Creation of a local plan or strategy (e.g. resilience, adaptation, implementation, comprehensive/master plan elements)  
    2. Running a series of workshops or trainings to engage community members in resilience planning
    3. Laying the groundwork for program implementation (e.g. resilience hubs, rain gardens) through gap assessment, project scoping, or pilots
    4. Data analysis, GIS work, and community surveys
    5. Developing policies and ordinances
