    Background:

    The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) has sponsored the Systems Engineering Workforce Program, managed by the CO-WY Climate Resilience Engine (CO-WY Engine; www.co-wyengine.org), to address Colorado’s critical shortage of skilled professionals in Systems Engineering.


    A portion of the funds allocated to the Systems Engineering Workforce Program has been earmarked to subsidize over 100 Systems Engineering internships at Colorado companies through 2026. The CO-WY Engine is seeking Colorado students interested in these internship opportunities.     Position Overview:

    Internship opportunities are ideal for Engineering majors interested in obtaining a solid foundation in the principles of systems design, integration, and process optimization. As an intern, you will work closely with experienced engineers to support the development, testing, and maintenance of systems. This role will provide hands-on experience and an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to a variety of projects at Colorado companies across the state.


    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Assist in the design, development, and testing of system components and sub-systems
    2. Support requirements analysis and contribute to system architecture and design documentation
    3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate systems and ensure functionality
    4. Participate in the development and execution of system validation and verification plans
    5. Perform data analysis and create reports to support system performance assessments
    6. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with current systems, identifying root causes and proposing solutions
    7. Contribute to process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency in system development


    Qualifications:

    1. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field at a Colorado academic institution
    2. Basic knowledge of systems engineering principles, such as requirements management, system modeling, and testing methodologies
    3. Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
    4. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
    5. A proactive, self-motivated approach with the desire to learn and contribute
